HEY! My name is Shawn Palmer. Born in Toms River, grew up in Barnegat. When I was a teenager and was too young to have a say in it, my family moved to Roanoke, Virginia. Living there, I realized how special NJ was and couldn't wait to get back. Now I'm back and I'm never leaving again. You can't beat the people and locations of NJ. The best people. Honest to your face. Nothing better than brutal NJ honesty. The best beaches/boards. The best drivers! Can't beat doing 85 and keeping up with traffic!
My first cassette tape when I was a kid was Michael Damian's "Where Do We Go From Here", with his cover of "Rock On". I won it playing a spinning wheel game in Pt. Pleasant. That tape and the "Cocktail Movie Soundtrack" NEVER left my tape player. From then on I was a sucker for a good catchy hook. Well in those cases, a good cheesy catchy hook. I spent most of my time as a teenager dubbing songs off the radio to make mix tapes. OH YEAH. Kids, tapes were these things right after records and right before CD’s. Listening to a certain song meant having to wait for the tape to either fast forward or rewind. My first CD was Hootie and the Blowfish "Cracked Rear View". My first concert too. Wow. I didn't realize how AWFUL my taste in music was when I was younger.
These days I'll listen and fall in love with anything that has a good beat and catchy hook. Rock, Pop, Country, Hip Hop/R&B, anything. As long as it gets stuck in my head, I'm down. If I had to give a current Top 5 it would be: Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, T.I., and All American Rejects.
My spare time is usually spent in front of a screen of some type. Wasting my life away with The Sims, XBOX 360 Sports Games, or TV. I also, like Matt Knight, play a lot of poker. In fact, the things I just mentioned that I do in my spare time, are usually done while playing online poker. You might ask, "Shawn, you live so close to AC. Why play online and not live?" Well my answer is pretty simple. The poker rooms in AC won't let me play in my underwear.
